Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This page explains what happens to your data when you use the India States & Union Territories Explorer (the "Site"). The Site itself is a static, client-side tool — it doesn't have user accounts, doesn't run its own server-side database, and doesn't collect personal information directly. Most of what follows concerns cookies set by third-party services we may use, such as advertising.

1. Information we collect directly

We don't collect names, email addresses, or any personal details through the Site. The only thing stored locally in your browser is your cookie-consent choice (accepted/declined), saved via localStorage so we don't ask again on every visit. This never leaves your device and isn't sent to us.

2. Cookies and advertising

If you accept cookies via the banner on the Site, we load Google AdSense to display ads. AdSense may set cookies on your device to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your browsing activity, depending on your Google ad settings.

You can change your cookie choice at any time using "Cookie Settings" in the Site's footer.

3. Links to external government websites

The Site links to official Indian central and state government websites (e.g. UIDAI, Passport Seva, state government portals). Once you leave the Site via one of these links, you're subject to that website's own privacy policy — we have no control over, and no visibility into, how those third-party sites handle your data.

4. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Since we don't hold any personal data ourselves (see Section 1), most requests would need to be directed to Google as the data controller for ad-related cookies — see Section 2 for their settings page. If you believe we hold data about you that isn't covered above, contact us using the details in Section 7.

5. Children's privacy

The Site is a general-audience reference tool and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this page as the Site changes — for example, if we add analytics or a different ad network. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision.
